Basically they are a way to check the integrity of a file. When you download the file you can use free utilities to perform a CRC or MD5 check. If the results do not match what is listed on this website for that file then you may want to delete the file and download it again.
If the checksum does not equal the same as is listed for the file then it means that either the file has been modified or when you downloaded the file not all of the pieces were fully received and pieced together. A free Windows-based utility that will check both the CRC and MD5 checksums is F-CRC. |
